An OSHA “recordable injury” is an occupational injury or illness that requires medical treatment beyond simple first aid and must be reported. All employers must comply with OSHA regulations for recording and reporting injuries in an official OSHA log
“Manufacturing is a balancing act between safety, quality and cost,” said Wesley Reid, site manager for the Winchester plant. “We believe that a plant’s safety record is a key leading indicator to overall organizational discipline – which results in both higher quality and lower operational cost. The Winchester team understands that safety cannot be taken for granted, and they contribute to improving their workplace safety each day.”
Reaching this level of safety performance represents a significant milestone for Trex, the nation’s largest manufacturer of wood-alternative decking, railing and fencing, in its journey towards “Best in Class” manufacturing.
“This achievement gives us great confidence that we can continue working injury free in the future,” said Bryan Winter, EHS manager. “There have been many challenges on this journey, but our team has faced them, while demonstrating great commitment and dedication to each other and to the Winchester facility.”
“Trex’s corporate culture is built on respect for our employees – and safety is a primary concern in all of our facilities,” said Ron Kaplan, president and CEO of Trex. “Not only do we produce superior products, but we also focus on providing a safe work environment for our people. We are extremely proud of this achievement.”
