Trex Company Announces Licensing Partnership with Dri-Deck Enterprises, LLC

WINCHESTER, Va., March 1, 2010 – Trex Company announced that it has entered into a licensing agreement with Colorado-based Dri-Deck Enterprises, LLC, to develop and market an above joist deck drainage system called Trex® RainEscape®. The system creates a dry space beneath the deck that is suitable for the installation of deck lighting, ceiling fans and finished ceilings and represents a significant new potential growth driver for the nation’s largest manufacturer of wood-alternative decking, railing and fencing products.

“This partnership both complements our core business and will strategically expand the Trex® brand into the deck drainage system category, which is expected to see considerable growth over the next several years,” said Ron Kaplan, President and CEO of Trex. “As the industry leader, we feel confident that Trex can drive overall consumer awareness and penetration of this category – and we’re excited to provide our channel partners with another practical and profitable accessory that they can package with the sale of a Trex decking and railing project.”

The Trex RainEscape system includes just five SKUs – a 16’ and 12’ drainage trough sheet, a down spout, butyl waterproof caulk and 4”x50’ butyl waterproof tape – requiring minimal inventory space and making it easy and inexpensive for dealers to stock. In addition, only three tools – scissors or a utility knife, a staple gun hammer and a caulk gun – are required for installation.
