Encon hosts regional testing for Gate operator Installation Certification

Saturday, February 28, 2009 leading gate, door and operator distributor, Encon Electronics will be one of the first companies to administer the new gate operator installation certification exam. The Institute of Door Dealer Education and Accreditation (IDEA) collaborated with the American Fence Association (AFA), and the Door and Access Systems (DASMA) to establish a program that validates experienced and skilled individuals in the automated gate installation industry, and Encon is now an official testing facility for this exam.

Encon’s General Manager, Jeff Harris said, “Now that our industry has a certification process accredited by the reputable IDEA, quality companies and dealers can and should become certified. By implementing a nationwide standard, superior companies are validated and recognized in our industry. Encon has always placed a huge emphasis on offering quality products and the highest level of service and knowledge. We want to take it a step further by launching a dedicated effort to get as many installers certified as possible. The February 28 testing date is hopefully the first of many to come.”

Encon’s entire technical support team is scheduled to take the certification exam in February and they encourage other experienced, professional companies to do the same. Any installing dealer who fulfills the eligibility criteria established by the IDEA can take the exam at. These requirements are:

Complete the Self-Study Guide

Successfully pass written examination

Have two or more years of field experience both installing and servicing automatic gate operator systems

You do not have to be an Encon dealer to take the exam. Encon is opening this testing opportunity to as many installing dealers as possible. “This is not about being an Encon customer, it is about legitimizing our industry and validating the quality professionals who deserve to recognized” Harris added.

The total fee for the Automated Gate Operator Installer Certification is $250 per person. An initial payment of $50 is required with registration to cover the cost and delivery of the Self-Study Guide. Once registered, you will receive the study guide to help prepare.
