Encon Electronics hosted their 9th Annual Golf Tournament

Hayward California -- On Saturday August 9, 2008, Encon Electronics hosted their 9th Annual Golf Tournament in Tracy California. Traditionally Encon has themed their tournaments, this year they adopted an Olympic theme in honor of the Summer Olympics which held their opening ceremonies the day prior on Friday August 8th

86 participants enjoyed the day at the Tracy Golf and Country Club. In past tournaments the temperature has topped the 100 degree mark. Fortunately this year the weather only reached a balmy 88 degrees, perfect conditions for a spectacular round of golf.

The busy morning began with check in and the first chance to win raffle tickets at the Event Wheel Spin. With tee off scheduled for 1:00, contestants were soon directed to the hosted driving range, Olympic Ring Chipping contest and a chance to win more tickets, then to a catered lunch at noon.

Following lunch and a quick group photo, the Encon tournament began with the obligatory manic rush to the golf carts then short drive to assigned starting holes. As the round progressed, golfers were treated to several Olympic themed events from Medal Holes to the Relay Hole collecting additional raffle tickets along the way. The course was highlighted by the 187 yard dash hole. As tournament co-organizer Vicki Jones expressed “our golfers had so much fun…I wished we had placed this contest on a longer hole.”

Co-organizer Tim Nordstrom reveals “we do our best to see that every golfer has an equal chance to win raffle tickets.”

As rounds were completed, golfers could be seen making their way back to the club house with fistfuls of collected raffle tickets. Team winners were awarded medals for first, second and third place with each member receiving a gold, silver or bronze medal. Gold medals went to Sun Power Security in Merced, CA. Silver medals to Douglas Automatics in Fresno, CA a team that included Encon’s own Justin Kilby. The bronze medals were awarded to Crusader Fence in Rancho Cordova, CA.

Encon CEO Betty Mullin states “we created this tournament as a thank you to all our customers for their loyal support. We work hard to make it as enjoyable as possible.”

Every year raffle prizes are donated by industry manufacturers from all over the US and Canada. All receive sponsorships which include recognition throughout each phase of the tournament. Participants use their tickets for chances to win a variety of extraordinary prizes. From Wii game consoles, DeWalt tool packages, and gift cards, to electronic devices, wine cases and outdoor living packages, by the end of the day over 35 raffle prizes were awarded.

Encon GM Jeff Harris says “the generosity of our sponsors is unrivalled, their time and donations help to make our tournament a ‘can’t miss’ event.”

“We play in a lot of tournaments … the Encon tournament is the best one we play in all year, by far. Everything from the gifts, to the format, to the people, Encon’s tournament is A-1. The entire tournament runs smoothly and all the hard work Encon puts into the tournament really shows. Tim, Nelson and Vicki deserve many thanks. Everyone has a great time and I will continue to look forward to the tournament every year” says Pat McCoy of Douglas Automatics in Fresno, CA.

Encon Electronics is a distributor of access control equipment, gate operators and door operators. Their golf tournament is made up of dealers, industry manufacturer representatives and their guests.
