“It did not take long to figure out the weak link in the gate installation business was the inductance loop. “Over 50% of our repeat service calls on brand new gate systems, was caused by faulty loops”, he said. “This was eating up our profits!”
Having a vast electronic engineer background, he designed a loop system that works without fail. Seeking the help of his then high school son, Brian, the business was started as BD Loops. The BD is his son’s initials.
The wrought iron company Ted was employed at ran into some cash flow problems and the access division was closed. Ted was laid off again, this time with a garage full of his son’s loops.
He said that he started knocking on a few distributors door and the rest is history. BD Loops is now one of the nations largest supplier if not the largest for inductance loops. With the introduction this year of a pre-formed saw-cut loop that includes a true installation kit we expect our business to really grow. “The real reward is the fact that I am blessed to work by my son’s side every day,”he said.
